Travis Perkins' Innovation Centre team has been supporting the Hospice for almost two years with various fundraising activities and their latest idea to raffle off and AEG food mixer has gone down extremely well among the team.
Ami Townell who has been the Charity Champion at Travis Perkins Innovation Centre since their support for the Hospice started said: “Our account manager from AEG very kindly donated one of the redesigned Ultra Kitchen Mixers to the Group Kitchens team. Not yet on sale in the UK, we were donated the product and I decided what better way to showcase this new range of mixers than to raffle it. The raffle had an unbelievable amount of interest and I raised over double the amount of my target with the final fundraising coming in at £580"
Luke Almond, Category Technical Manager, who won the Ultra Mix, said: “I’m not a baker so for me, taking part wasn’t about winning but supporting the hospice. Whether it’s for fun or prizes, we all want to help the charity – winning was just a bonus! I may have to practice my cake baking skills, but my fiancé will definitely get good use out of the prize.”
Ami added: "Luke is one of the first people in the UK to own the mixer, so we hope he enjoys it and gets some good use out of it!”
The Travis Perkins team have also raised a further £550 for the Hospice by holding a sample sale where they sold off products they’ve put through quality testing so no longer have packaging and cannot be sold.
